Cochranites will soon be able to enjoy the arctic spa experience close to home. Groupe Nordik will be building the Harmony Spa in the new Harmony lake community near Springbank.

Arctic spas are the new trend and this will be Groupe Nordik's fourth in Canada, the first in Alberta.

Developers of Harmony approached Groupe Nordik as they are confident that the lake community will be the perfect blend with the spa.

The spa will be situated on 10 acres of waterfront property in Harmony with a view of the Rocky Mountains. "This is a tremendous opportunity for not only the residents of Harmony, but the neighbouring region and city as well, “said Cary Kienitz, Qualico Communities Associate Director, Development. “There are significant benefits that a Groupe Nordik facility offers, not only from the health and wellness perspective, but a focus on business: investing in infrastructure and providing employment.”

The facility will be built to the tune of $45 million dollars and anticipates creating 400 jobs in the sluggish economy. As well, in its first year Groupe Nordik expects the Springbank spa to draw up to 300,000 visitors.

Marianne Trotier, Communications Director for Groupe Nordik says, " It will have about seven or eight saunas. These are all different the saunas have different experiences. Then we will have outdoor pools and many relaxation areas such as a Mongolian yurt, and of course gazebos with fireplaces and heated hammocks."

Construction is set to begin this spring with completion expected in the spring of 2022.
