Tomorrow (April 27) is Independent Book Store Day and Cochrane’s own Found Books has lots to celebrate.

“It's a two-way celebration really, we are still here and haven't been taken out by the big guys and also a celebration that our patrons have helped us stay here,” says owner Julia Lutchman.

“Something that I didn't realize when I was opening a bookstore is that it sneaks away into becoming a space that is more of a community space as opposed to just a bookstore. And we designed ours to be that way, which is awesome.”

“It's more a celebration of what indie bookstores bring to a community! Help it thrive and be something bigger and better than it could be without it.”

She says they also use Independent Book Store Day as a marker for Found’s third anniversary.

Found plans to celebrate with a community event tomorrow featuring free coffee and macarons for the first 15 guests, chances to win prizes with purchases over $20 including a shot at tickets to the exclusive VIP Found Books Suite at the Bow Valley Boot Stomp.

There will also be exciting activities like a scavenger hunt, bookmark making, author signings, live music, and more to go along with giveaways and discounts.

“When we started [Found], it was crossing my fingers and hoping that people would be excited that there was a bookstore and help support it. Now it’s beyond anything I could have dreamed.”
