Cochrane residents have the chance to meet with the head of the local police at an upcoming event, and ask him whatever they would like.

RCMP Cst. Clayton Gelinas said Detachment Commander, Insp. Dave Brunner will be on hand at an upcoming open house and they're inviting members from the public to attend.

"As the community grows in Cochrane here, we're just looking to hear from the community about what issues are going on, and to just have an open forum to be able to speak to the Cochrane Detachment Commander as well as the management. Just to see what's going on in the community and how we can help."

The event will be similar to Coffee with a Cop, which sees local officers meet with residents on a regular basis at Cochrane McDonald's to have a casual conversation.

It's an open forum. No holds barred kind of thing. You can ask them whatever you want.

Officers want to use this as an opportunity to connect with local residents, said Gelinas.

"The community, they're living here, they're spending their recreational time and they come across things that they feel are issues and we don't always know what those are. People have certain issues and maybe we don't know and that's what we want to do is find out how we can help."

Pre-registration is not required.

Depending on the popularity, the event may be reoccurring.

The event is on May 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cochrane Protective Services detachment.
