Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a special weather statement due to the potential for significant snowfall in Cochrane and the surrounding areas this week.

Snowfall is forecasted to begin tomorrow evening, and last until Wednesday, with between from 10 to 25 cm of snow anticipated by Thursday morning,

The most significant amounts are projected west of Highway 2, particularly in elevated areas.

The snow is expected to be heavy and wet, and may be mixed with rain in some regions. 

The special weather statement is also in effect for Airdrie, Olds and Sundre. 

Warmer temperatures are forecast for the weekend with double digits expected for Saturday.
