The Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane & Area is very pleased to be hosting a community focused run/ marathon in partnership with local marathon-runner, Martin Parnell.

Cara Sealock, Communications & Fund Development Associate of the Boys & Girls Club of Cochrane & Area says, "We are super excited this year that Martin Parnell has chosen us to be the recipient of the funds of The 10th Annual Martin Parnell Run and Walk held at Spray Lake Family Sports Centre on New Year's Eve.

Parnell says, “To date all my fundraising has been for boys and girls in underdeveloped and conflict regions in the world. However, it is important to understand that boys and girls in our hometown face challenges. I looked at a number of organizations and then read The Boys and Girls Club mission. My wife Sue and I talked about the work they do and we knew this was the organization we wanted to support.”

The run will take place on Dec. 31, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. from a trail near the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre. Donations from the event will go to the Boys & Girls Club of Cochrane & Area through a ‘by donation’ registration fee. Registration will open on the day of the run.

All of the funds collected from the run will go towards operations and programming at the CLUB. The CLUB is a youth exclusive division of the Boys & Girls Club, which provides teens a fun, safe space to hang out, do homework or seek support
