Cochrane residents will have the chance to take in artwork from talented local artists once again at an upcoming annual event.

Jeff Mackenzie, president of the Foothills Art Club said their Annual Art Show & Sale will feature original Acrylic, oil, watercolour, pastel, multi-media and graphite work among others at their Annual Art Show & Sale.

They asked members to do a painting based on the theme "Visions of Cochrane".

"We did a selection process and came up with one that we think is really something special and it's by one of our artists, Karen Stienstra and it shows the Cochrane Café. She used to operate that with her husband."

Stienstra's painting will be the door prize at the event on April 20.

They're a busy group of 37 artists says Mackenzie but they're always welcoming new members.

"We're a very welcoming group and we have people that have been in the club for a long time and are willing to help. We encourage everyone to come and learn with us and participate and we're hoping it can be a fun time for everyone."

The group meets twice a month to paint, critique and learn and they host a sale twice a year.

Once a month the artists have scheduled "paint-outs" at the Beaupre Hall, west of Cochrane.
