Bragg Creek's Dylan Holloway came out flying in his return to the Edmonton Oilers lineup.

Fresh from a stint with the Bakersfield Condors, he scored Edmonton's final goal and was plus 3 on the night in the Oilers' 5-1 dismantling of the injury-plagued Vegas Golden Knights.

He used his speed and size to nullify the Golden Knights defence on his a wrap-around goal.

Holloway was sent to the AHL Condors in late January and was called up earlier this week when rock star Connor McDavid went down to injury. McDavid is reported to be day-to-day.

Holloway was determined to prove he belonged in the lineup.

"There was definitely some emotion when I was sent down," said Holloway in a post-game media scrum. "I tried to use it as an opportunity to focus on my game to try and get as good as I can and focus on the little things they wanted me to work on."

He was teamed up with Corey Perry and Ryan McLeod.

The Oilers have already secured a playoff berth and are giving chase to the Vancouver Canucks for first in the Pacific division.

The Oilers host the Arizona Coyotes Friday night in the second of a four-game home stand.
