Alberta Culture and Tourism minister Ricardo Miranda is coming to Cochrane for the mural painting at the public library on Sunday.

Miranda is including Cochrane as one of his stops during the province's three-day culture days celebration, Sept. 29 to Oct. 1. The library has been named one of the celebration sites and the province provided funding for its community mural painting event. He will be at the library from 2 and 3 p.m. on Sunday and will likely be picking up a brush and adding some of the colour to the mural.

The Cochrane Public Library is helping to celebrate Cochrane's rich heritage by holding a community painting of a large fence mural on Sunday from 12 noon to 5 p.m.  One and all are invited to help paint the "COCHRANE: How the West Was & Is" mural that will provide a visual story of the growth of the community.

In a series of six 4'x4' panels, passersby will be able to view a simplistic but colourful account of the area's development. Near it's beginning, the mural will depict our early history, with such things as Aboriginal culture, the railway, the Cochrane Ranche then work its way through the expansion of the town right through to the construction of the new Garmin building. Consistent through all panels will be the Bow River.

All ages are invited to participate and it's a great family activity.
