A 34 year old woman from Cochrane is in hospital in serious, life threatening condition after an accident on Highway 22.

The accident happened just after 7 am, just outside the Riversong subdivision, when her SUV and logging truck collided.

The woman was trapped inside the SUV after the collision, the Cochrane Fire Department removed her from the vehicle and she was transported to Foothills Hospital via ground ambulance. 

The driver of the logging truck was not injured.

Highway 22 was closed for several hours this morning while this collision was investigated by members of RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstruction Unit and members from Cochrane RCMP Detachment.

The highway is now fully open, the investigation is ongoing.
