Taking back control of the game in the last three minutes of play lead to the Bow Valley Bobcats varsity girls team’s second consecutive win in Rocky View Sports league play last night.

The score was 36-30 with 3:46 remaining when the Bobcats shut down the W. H. Croxford Cavaliers to go on to win 43-32. The Bobcats were up 26-13 at the half but struggled through the third quarter and appeared fatigued, perhaps from their tight schedule the last couple of weeks.

“It was kind of a let down in the third quarter but I think it’s important to get some development in there as well in these games,” says head coach Kris Nielson “We used the third-quarter as a development quarter but it didn’t work to our advantage on the scoreboard.”

There was still gas in the tank late in the fourth, though, and the Bobcats pulled away at the end.

Two games into their season, the Bobcats remain undefeated in RVS play. They downed the Bert Church Chargers, 69-28, in their Dec. 12 home opener last week

Tonight, the Bobcats play in the school’s alumni game before the Christmas break. They resume their RVS play on the road against the George McDougall Mustangs, Jan. 10.

“It’s been a long first third of the season and they’ve gone pretty hard,” says Nielson. “The Christmas break is exactly what we need.”
