The St. Timothy's Junior High Track and field team broke a school record June 1 at the Calgary Catholic Junior High City Track Championships. 

The team took home a record 21 medals and won their 1st ever medals in the 4x100m relay.

Cross Country Coach Travis Cummings says it was a memorable day , adding all coaches are overjoyed with the performance.

"Amazing results," he says. "Coaches Cummings, Dallyn, Iwan, Schumann, and Olsen are very proud of our athletes."

The following athletes were medalists at this year’s Tier II City Champs hosted at Glenmore Athletic Park:

Gold Medals and City Champions:

-          Grade 8 Boys Shot Put – Tyrel Bauer

-          Grade 9 Girls 800m – Mikenna Spademan

-          Grade 7 Girls 800m – Darcie Petersen

-          Grade 8 Boys 200m – Damen Agyeman

 

Silver Medalists:

-          Scott Delsing – Grade 9 800m and Javelin

-          Liam McCollough – Grade 7 Boys 800m

-          Maggie Brolsma – Grade 9 girls 800m

-          Grace Boston – Grade 7 girls 800m

-          Jacob Mate – Grade 7 boys shot put

-          Liam Hogg – Grade 8 Boys 200m

-          Intermediate Co-Ed 4x100m relay – Liam Hogg, Parker Jorginson, Natasha Le, Riley Wasylyniuk

-          Grade 7 Girls 4x100m relay – Melissa Yeung, Emily Carvalho, Miranda Hobbs, Carling Bremner

 

Bronze Medalists

-          Eric Swedlo – Grade 9 boys 800m

-          Elspeth Cooper – Grade 8 girls 800m

-          Julianna Mackenzie – Grade 8 girls javelin and shot put

-          Veronika Vrablik – Grade 9 girls discus

-          Grade 8 boys 4x100m – Brenek Spademan, Damen Agyeman, Tyrel Bauer, Keegan Turuk

-          Grade 9 girls 4x100m – Michelle Conway, Mikenna Spademan, Veronika Vrablik, Kennedy Michalski

The team will head to Catholic and public school's City Champs next Saturday, June 11.
