Rocky View School Division has received an additional $6.7 million in capital/maintenance funding to complete additional school renewal projects.

Recently, the RVS board of trustees approved a list of 18 projects that will be undertaken with the additional funding.

Among them, are system upgrades and maintenance projects that will benefit schools in Cochrane, Springbank, and Westbrook.

The largest among them is a $1 million roof replacement at the Springbank High School. The school's parking lot lights will also be upgraded.

A section of the roof at Springbank Middle School will be replaced and its bus loop/parking lot will be repaved.

The Cochrane High School will have its security system upgraded and the Bow Valley High School will get a new fire panel.

Funds will be assigned to demolition the old Westbrook School.

In late May, the government announced it will provide an additional $250 million provincewide as part of its stimulus pogram. It estimates 3,750 jobs will be created.

The funds are in addition to annual Infrastructure, Maintenance and Renewal funding received from the province.
