The avalanche warning issued last week for the Rockies has been extended until the end of the weekend, according to Avalanche Canada.

This warning encompasses Banff, Yoho, and Kootenay National Parks, along with Kananaskis Country.

Forecasters are concerned about buried weak layers, reaching depths of up to a metre, compounded by upcoming warmer temperatures and clear skies.

A man from Alberta lost his life in an avalanche at Sale Mountain, north of Revelstoke, last weekend.
