Cochrane RCMP have released new details about the truck involved in a hit and run that sent a local man to hospital with severe injuries.

Jake Tiefengraber was struck on Highway 1A near Township Road 260 on Feb. 21 after he had pulled over to the side of the road to check for damages.

He was traveling behind other vehicles that had struck a deer before the animal was sent into the air and into the vehicle he was riding in with his girlfriend.

That was when he was hit by a truck and sent flying into the ditch.

The driver of the truck did not stop.

RCMP are searching for a 2016 Ram 1500 Sport.

The 25-year-old shattered his ankle and suffered a concussion.

Cochrane RCMP have asked anyone with information about the truck involved to contact them at 403-851-8000 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
