Two Cochrane area NHLers are hitting the ice tonight in their season openers.

Cochrane's Dillon Dube kicks off his sixth season with the Calgary Flames at the Dome against the Winnipeg Jets.

Bragg Creek's Dylan Holloway is in his sophomore season with the Edmonton Oilers, who are in Vancouver to face the Canucks.

The two will face off against each other for the first time in the regular season on Oct. 29 at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

Holloway dressed for 51 games for the Oilers in his debut season. He scored three goals, assisted on six, and had an even +/- rating.

He became the first college player selected in the 2020 NHL Draft when the Edmonton Oilers selected him in the first round, 14th overall, following his freshman season at Wisconsin.

Veteran centre Dube has appeared in 282 games for the Flames. Last season, he set his personal single-season point record of 45 with a -6 +/- rating. He looked to be on the verge of breaking his goal-scoring record, but in the end tied his high of 18 registered in the 2022-23 season.
