The wait is almost over.

The Centre Ave and First Street intersection is set to reopen to traffic on Sunday, Oct. 1.

Construction crews have been working hard for the past several weeks as major water main and storm system infrastructure was replaced.

The intersection has been closed to traffic since Aug. 30.

Concrete pours have begun for curbs and sidewalks.

Paving is set to begin soon.

According to a post on the town of Cochrane's Facebook page, there have been a few hiccups along the way, "Utility conflicts were identified on the north leg of the intersection, we are working to address this and get the stretch of Centre Avenue between First Street and William open as soon as we can."

The town is thanking drivers for their patience.
