The Cochrane Cobras football team snake bit the Holy Rosary Raiders for the Gold Title in the Tier III ASAA Provincial Championships on November 26.

It was an edge of your seat final game at Hellard Field that ended in favor of the Cobras with a score of 29-20.

Robie McNab, Cobras Coach, says the Raiders were tougher to beat than last year, but the Cobras matched up and defeated them once again.

“I thought our kids competed quite well. We beat them badly in last year's provincial final, but they obviously made up some ground on us. We had some mistakes out there, but the kids rallied and we got the victory for our third straight provincial championship.”

Tae Gordon #20, Cobras Quarterback, stood out by taking the Sportsmanship Award for the second season in a row.

“He had a great day. He threw for three touchdowns. He carried the ball, he did everything yesterday as he usually does. I think Tae Gordon stole the show a little bit, but with a great supporting cast obviously.”

Gordon was 14 of 27 passing 216 yards.

Kane Bolaschuk #33, Runningback,  rushed the ball 13 times for 63 yards and scored 1 touchdown.

Dawson Price #30, Leading Receiver, had 4 receptions for 68 yards with 2 touchdowns.

McNab says it feels pretty gratifying after a long season to come out with the win and the team has some bumps and bruises to show for it.
