A blast from the past has been unearthed, thanks to the community rally in support of the Cochrane Arena bid to win Kraft Hockeyville.

Nick Maclure, a dedicated volunteer with the Cochrane Generals junior team, used the opportunity to help reinvigorate interest in locating the bus used by the team from about 1984 to 1990.

He said over 250 people responded to his post, including many alumni who reminisced about their time with the club.

Its location has been confirmed to be Affordable Storage, located on Hwy. 12, north of Saskatoon, SK and about a five-minute drive from Martensville.

"I've tried giving them a phone call or e-mail, but I haven't heard back yet," says Maclure. "I just want to know like how it got there, like who it belonged to. We've had some people say they want us to restore and bring back to town, but I think that will be a little too much."

Maclure began his search over a year ago.

"Before, we had leads on three possible locations. We now have a picture of it, and we know exactly where it is."

While serving as the club's social media coordinator in the 2022-23 season, he began piecing together the club's 40-year history and developing an archive, which he continues to expand.

Many of the items were provided by Denis Goodsell, who was involved in pretty much every capacity (except player) with the Gens over a span of 25 years. It included a table taken from the bus that had the names of every member of the Gens organization in the 1988-89 season.

Maclure's keen interest lead to the club's first alumni game last February and the creation of a Gens alumni Facebook group.
