Disc golf players in Cochrane got an early Christmas present this year. The town of Cochrane has installed new, top of the line baskets on the disc golf course in Riverfront Park.

2020 has been a great year for disc golf in Cochrane, with more and more players coming together to play the sport.

Aaron Tremblett created a Facebook group for disc golfers to play together in Cochrane and has hosted several training sessions for new players. He says the new baskets will be a huge improvement.”Now we have proper baskets, we could host miniature amateur tournaments in the summer. The sport is just so much more enjoyable with proper equipment. So I could see it growing because one of the frustrations of many players in the area, and why they sort of drive past Cochrane or go to other courses was that was our basket situation so I could honestly see our numbers explode here, more players. Just more opportunity.”

Tremblett has been working closely with The Town, he even helped them get the best baskets for the best price. “I was able to connect them with a vendor, JK discs in Strathmore who provided them with a cost that was basically under cost. I wish I could get that kind of deal on a disc golf basket!"

After two days of installation, the new disc golf baskets are up and ready for players to break them in.
