Dr. Deena Hinshaw summarized her update on Thursday, November 5th by saying this has not been a good week.

Between technical difficulties with the AHS website, rapidly rising cases and not enough people to contact trace properly it is not good.

While the technical difficulties that Alberta Health Services has been having with their website should be rectified by Friday, sadly the same cannot be said with regards to the rising cases of COVID19. Dr. Deena Hinshaw confirmed that the province of Alberta saw 800 new cases in the past 24 hours.

Dr. Hinshaw says that the extra restrictions enacted ten days ago in Calgary and Edmonton do not seem to be having a positive affect.

We must bend the curve, how that is done remains to be seen.

Dr. Hinshaw says there is a  concerning trend that is being seen with regards to active case transmissions due to people who are symptomatic not isolating. In the Calgary zone alone, 11% of people with symptoms went to work. 9% travelled and 7% attended a social function.

The other concerning trend is the large amount of cases with unknown exposures.

More complete data details will be provided on Friday.
