The 8th Annual Cochrane Classic Ringette Tournament has wrapped up.

A total of 79 games were played with teams from all over Alberta and Saskatchewan ranging in ages from 4 to 18 years old.

Alyssa Bates, Cochrane Classic Ringette Tournament Director, says the tournament ran smoothly and everyone who played had a great time.

"It was really successful. We had lots of positive feedback from people saying they had a great time, that they felt it was a well run tournament and good competition."

It was also very successful for the Cochrane Ringette Association; funds raised will help off set registration costs for the teams in next year's tournament.

Bates adds this year the tournamnet's Grand Prize draw is two tickets anywhere WestJet flies.

"It was our biggest fundraiser of the year.  We were also really fortunate this year to have WestJet  tickets available at our tournament which also increases the funds we receive for the cause."

Six Cochrane teams made it into the finals on December 11 with four of the teams taking gold medals.
