Cochrane sky gazers are in for a special treat starting tonight as the Geminids meteor shower is set to peak this evening.

Nasa calls the Geminids one of the year's "best and most reliable annual meteor showers". 100 to 150 multicoloured shooting stars per hour could be spotted during the peak times.

To give yourself the best chance to see the shower, you’ll want to find an area with an open view of as much of the night sky as possible. You will want to be away from town lights and give your eyes time to adjust to the dark. the peak times are expected to begin around 9 p.m. Wednesday and go into the early morning hours.

Apps are also recommended to help make sure you have your bearings as to where to look. Cochranites should try and find the Gemini constellation first and from there it should be easy to take in the show.
