Castellano Custom Homes will soon be breaking ground for its second Home for Hope, this time in Cochrane's Sunset neighbourhood.

Sam Iaquinta, of Castellano Custom Homes, says construction will begin within a few weeks and is expected to be completed this fall. Upon its sale, all proceeds will be shared between the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation and the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation to assist in the care and hospitalization of children across Alberta.

Castellano says he became aware of the hospital's need for funding for ancillary types of programs when one of his children needed to visit the Calgary's children hospital.

"When we discovered that, my two partners and I put our heads together and we decided that we could probably have a positive impact on the hospital by building a home, selling it and donating the proceeds of that home to the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation and the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation," he says.

Given the current market, he suspects the house will sell quickly.

"The house should be completed in seven months from now and should be sold shortly thereafter. It may even sell over the summer or fall months."

The company built their first Home for Hope in Airdrie during the pandemic and raised $200,000 for the two foundations.

The sod turning takes place on Apr. 23.
