The Cochrane Chaos have wrapped up its exhibition season and are ready for the start of the AJFHL regular season.

The Chaos kick off their season in Lethbridge on Oct. 1 against the Eagles, then head to Blackie to play the Foothills Storm on Oct. 7.

We won't see them here until their Oct. 14 home opener when they'll unveil their provincial championship banner from the 2022-23 season.

Over the weekend, they hosted three teams at the SLS Centre to wrap up a six-game preseason. The Calgary Fire, Calgary Titans, and newly-formed Foothills Storm were in town.

Two weeks ago, they took their new roster on their first major road trip to play the Lakeland Wranglers in Lloydminster. Loomer says it served a dual purpose. It gave the Chaos a chance to face some stiff competition against a solid ACAC college team while getting a chance to know each other. He said you could see the difference on the bus trip back.

"The comfort level increased a lot and there was a lot more interaction. It's just really important to get your team comfortable and supporting each other right at the start of the year."

Cochrane's Sarah Nusl is team captain and the alternates are Kelly Stanford, Jordan Holt, and Alexis Smith.

Loomer says it will be a special season opener against the Central Alberta Amazons on Oct. 14.

"We're really excited to come out and have the ceremonial faceoff, get a lot of the Jr. Chaos out here to do our player introductions and be out on the ice with the group, and unveil our championship banner. I think that's going to be pretty exciting for the girls."

The AJFHL is an eight-team league with four in the north division and an equal number in the south. The Chaos are in their eighth season and have been a top contender from day one.
