A loss to the George McDougall Mustangs has dropped the Cochrane Cobras into second place among Tier III high school football teams in Alberta.

The defending divisional champions beat the Cobras 24-15 on their home turf on Oct. 6 to wrap up first place in the Rocky View Sports (RVS) league. It was the Cobras' first loss of the season.

Football Alberta released its weekly high school football rankings today.

Lloydminster's Holy Rosary Raiders are ranked number one in Tier III after demolishing Wainwright 67-0 to improve to a 5-1 record.

Despite their performance, the undefeated Mustangs surprisingly aren't ranked in the top 10 in Tier II.

The Bow Valley Bobcats had a bye and remain ranked fifth in Tier III.

Coming into the last week of the RVS regular season, the Cobras are in Chestermere on Oct. 12 to face the Chestermere Lakers. The Bobcats play the W. H. Cavaliers on Airdrie's Ed Eggerer Field on Oct. 14.

RVS playoffs begin on Oct. 20.
