Albertans will have the opportunity to voice their opinions and share their suggestions on the spring 2020-2021 budget.

The government will host two telephone town hall meetings on January 27 and 28, in which Albertans will be able to speak directly to the finance minister and provide feedback to be used in the development of Budget 2020. Southern Alberta's designated day to call in is January 28.

President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance, Travis Toews says “Leading up to Budget 2019, we heard from more than 4,000 people online and almost 35,000 people during our telephone town halls. Albertans demonstrated that they have incredible insight into the choices we must make together to create jobs,  get out of debt and grow our economy. As we continue on this path, I want to hear your thoughts. We made a good start in Budget 2019 and we need to keep that momentum going.”

An online survey is also available until February 7, with questions pertaining to Albertans’ spending and saving priorities, as well as ideas for job creation and growing Alberta’s economy.

Online questions include:

  • What spending priorities do you think the government should focus on?
  • Where do you think the government could find savings?
  • How should the government support job creation and economic growth?

The public input will help inform Budget 2020, scheduled to be released this spring. You can click here to have your say.
