While residents of Cochrane will not see any disruption to waste or organic pick up tomorrow (February 18), you should take note that the Town Administration office is closed for the holiday Monday.

The Cochrane Public Library will also be closed for Family Day, but if you have a desire to be active and burn off some energy Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre will be buzzing with activities to get your whole family moving. While the complex opens at 6 in the morning, Family Day activities will be running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a cost of $25 for the entire family if you are a non-member.

If you are planning on hitting the sports complex you may also want to tote along a bag of non-perishable food items as the Cochrane firefighters take the ice against Airdrie Fire in the first of a two-game match. Cochrane Fire is hoping you will not only come out and cheer them on but help stock the shelves of our local food bank. The Fire vs Fire rivalry is free to watch and firefighters will face off in the Totem One arena at two bells.

Although spaces are limited you could also try and snag a last minute ticket for the first guided hike at Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park at 10 a.m.; with an anticipated high of -8C maybe heading outdoors is more appealing. In order to take part in the guided hike, participants must pre-register at the website www.grpf.ca. The cost is $10 and there's a 15 percent discount for park foundation members.

If you are looking at switching things up for breakfast...how about ice cream at Mackay's?! The legendary ice cream shop opens at 9 a.m. for its annual 'Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast' where you can grab yourself a Triple Header Power Smoothie before maybe trying to strike out at Cochrane Lanes or watch one of the latest flicks at the newly renovated Cochrane Movie House.

Whatever you choose to do, enjoy the day with your family in our beautiful community.
