A couple of traffic stops at the end of March led RCMP to lay additional charges.

On March 30, the Integrated Traffic Unit pulled over a 30-year-old female for speeding and discovered she was driving impaired due to drugs. Once the female was placed under arrest, a search was conducted and RCMP found what was suspected crystal meth, cocaine and fentanyl.

Likewise, on March 31, the Integrated Traffic Unit pulled over a 47-year-old male driver for speeding on Highway 8 near Range Road 31. Members discovered not only did the man have a warrant issued for his arrest out of Calgary Police Service but also found what was suspected to be cocaine, crack cocaine, tablets of fentanyl, carfentanil and cash when his vehicle was seized and searched.

RCMP Corporal Troy Savinkoff, shares traffic stops can often to lead to more charges. "When our officers are conducting traffic enforcement not only do we deal with the traffic infringement before us it doesn't end right there; it can often lead to other types of investigations depending on what the officers observe. It could be an impaired driver, warrants or in these cases where individuals had drugs on them; our officers are always on the lookout to take any one of those vehicle stops to the next level if the grounds present themselves."
