An early morning traffic stop last Friday (July 6) has resulted in two people from British Columbia facing trafficking charges.

Although, Cochrane RCMP was on the lookout for a different suspicious vehicle, a traffic stop on Highway 567 east of Highway 22 led RCMP to a substantial find.

Cochrane RCMP, Constable Kary Moore says it was shortly after 2 am when the officer conducted the stop. "When he commenced the traffic stop it resulted in a significant drug seizure of suspected methamphetamine along with other unknown substances."

Cst. Moore shares a 25-year-old woman and 41-year-old man from BC will see themselves in Cochrane Court on August 28. "They have both been charged with one count each of possession with the purpose of trafficking as well as one count each of possession of a substance."

Both individuals have been released from custody.
