Cochrane area athletes are competing today in volleyball, wrestling and golfing events at the Canada Summer Games.

The female team volleyball team, that includes Bragg Creek's Elyse Hart, remained undefeated after their first three matches against Newfoundland/Labrador, Northwest Territories, and Quebec. Yesterday's match against Quebec proved to be the most challenging to date, with Alberta winning the final set to break a 2-2 tie. Today they play third place New Brunswick before taking on top-ranked Ontario on Thursday. Both Ontario and Alberta are undefeated so far and are only separated by points scored.

In their fourth match of the games, the male volleyball team plays New Brunswick this morning before taking on Manitoba in the afternoon to finish their preliminary round. The team sits second in their pool and have only lost to pool leader Ontario. Jackson Brennan, of Bragg Creek, is a member of the Alberta team.

In wrestling, Alberta faces Team Manitoba in the opening matchup before challenging Quebec in the evening. Thursday they face Ontario and Nova Scotia.

In male golf, former Cochrane High student Max Murchison is playing his second round, after scoring a 78 yesterday, 11 strokes behind leader Christopher Vandette, of Quebec.

Overall, Alberta remains in fourth place with 10 gold, 20 silver, and 18 bronze.
