The Cowboys Wrestling Club has been in Cochrane since 2008 and is a force to reckon with.

Two consecutive years winning Outstanding Club of the Year in Alberta and boasting 6 National team members, sets this small but talented club apart from others.

Even though the club has been extremely successful, they remain a tight knit group. Team Manager of the Cowboys Wrestling Club, Amy Swedlo, says ages range from 7-17, with varying degrees of athletic abilities.

“Our club is about family, and every member of the team is important, regardless of their age. Everyone works together in practice and the young kids get to see the amazing ability of the older kids, and the older kids get to mentor the younger ones, giving back to the sport”

Development benefits include:

  • mental toughness
  • personal responsibility
  • respect for teammates and coaches
  • discipline

The Cowboys Club is proud to host the Provincial Open in March, where over 650 competitors from all over Alberta will be competing in Cochrane.

The club currently has 45 registered athletes with 15 spaces still available.  No experience necessary and is a great way to develop basic athletic skills.
