With the Calgary Stampede along with races in High River and Grande Prairie already cancelling, the World Professional Chuckwagon (WPCA) has shut down the rest of the shows and cancel this year's chuckwagons competitions.

They say with the effects of COVID-19 and restrictions on mass gatherings, they just weren't going to be able to pull off any shows this year.

They say they'll continue to work with host committees, sponsors and the drivers to make sure the chucks come back for 2021.

But they also admit, having a year away will likely change the landscape of chuckwagon racing, which could take the form of fewer shows and maybe fewer drivers, who can't afford the year off and could walk away from the sport.
