Plans are coming together for a huge community celebration in less than two weeks time.

On September 9 and 10, community members will have an opportunity to send someone swimming while raising money for a great cause.

For $5 (3 balls) to $10 (7 balls) you will be able to test your throwing skills by dunking Cochrane's mayor, members of council, firefighters, RCMP officers, your favourite news reporters, and local business owners.

Not all spots are spoken for so there is an opportunity for you to nominate a person of your choice, which you can tag at Facebook.com/RocktheWaves or Facebook.com/SLSFSC

All money from the dunk tank will go towards Rock the Waves which is currently sitting at 4.9 million of their 10.6 million dollar goal. The 48 million dollar project was also funded by provincial sources ($22.7 million in approved Municipal Sustainability Initiative), federal programs ($2,330,122 of its federal Gas Tax Fund) and through the support of Cochrane and area residents, community organizations, developers, and Rocky View County.

The FREE two day event runs from 11 am to 3 pm both days at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre with a wide variety of entertainment, demonstrations, and recreational activities occurring inside and out. You will also have an opportunity to swim for free, throw a rock, try the fitness centre or one of the many other programs and demos being highlighted.

A list of who is being dunked and when will be available shortly.
