Cochrane has this uncanny ability to instantly make people feel they've come home.

That includes a passionate group of Cochranites who are holding a "Welcome Home" social on Aug. 21 to share their passion with new residents.

Rob Halfyard, just one of the organizers, says Cochrane is truly a special place.

"Most of the people I've talked with who have come here say, 'I just feel like I'm at home.' The energy in Cochrane is simply amazing,"

"You feel it, you feel the energy here. The best thing I've done in my life was to move to Cochrane."

The social is being held at the 5th Ave. clubhouse of the BGC Cochrane and Area from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 21.

They'll be light snacks, music, kids' games, and a draw for a huge gift basket. It's open to singles, couples, and families and is free to attend.

It's also an opportunity to connect with others and learn more about Cochrane.

Halfyard says the organizers aren't affiliated with any particular group and hope to make it an annual August event that others can carry forward.

This is an RSVP event, and people are asked to get a free ticket on Eventbrite so organizers can be prepared for the number of people attending.
