The number of known cases of COVID-19 continues to drop in the Stoney Nakoda Nation.

According to numbers released last night by Stoney Health Services, there are now 49 active cases, a drop of eight cases from Feb. 7.

Yesterday also saw the first vaccines being deployed for elders of the Nation. It's available for all residents 65 and older by appointment.

Information continues to be made readily available on the coronavirus and the vaccine.

For weeks now, Stoney Health has been providing drive-thru testing at the Centex gas station in Morley. It's scheduled to continue daily this week from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Stoney Health has completed 3,458 tests. A total of 425 cases were identified, and 376 people have recovered.

Sadly, there have been six deaths attributed to COVID-19.
