UPDATE A GoFundMe campaign has launched for The Yamnuska Wolf Dog Sanctuary. You can donate here

Original story follows.

Just minutes west of Cochrane is the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to rescuing and caring for wolfdogs. While the sanctuary is usually filled with people who come for tours and educational programs, the doors are now closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the halting of all public tours, the sanctuary has now lost its main source of funding.

29 wolfdogs currently call Yamnuska home and the sanctuary is reaching out to Cochranites to make sure they can continue to care for these spectacular animals.

Alyx Harris, the manager of the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary says that even without the tours, there are several ways to contribute to their cause “Sponsoring a wolfdog is something that people can do, it’s just a one-time donation essentially and there are different sponsorship packages you can choose from.”

“Monetary donations are a huge help right now. Without a lot of funds coming in, people that are able to just become a monthly or one-time donor is so greatly appreciated.”

Yamnuska has also set up a new online store where you can purchase gifts and merchandise with all the proceeds going directly back to the care and well-being of their wolfdogs. Check out the store here
