With Alberta Municipal Affairs minister Tracy Allard testing positive for COVID-19, the town has contacted all those in attendance at the pre-opening reception for Jack Tennant Memorial Bridge opening.

In a statement issued this afternoon, the town says it has notified all those in attendance at the reception and they are following all AHS protocols for self-isolation and testing.

Last night, the town learned Allard tested positive for the virus.

"In preparation for this outdoor event, the town followed all Alberta Health Services COVID-19 protocols, which included all participants being required to wear masks and to physically distance (chair spacing), during the ceremony, as well as cleaning the microphone between presenters," states the town in the released statement.

"As an outdoor event, the town believes any risks associated with the possible transmission of COVID-19 were effectively mitigated," it continues.

Several town councillors and members of the town's senior leadership team were in close contact with the minister during a pre-opening reception

The town says it has not been contacted by AHS  but is proactively following all AHS protocols to mitigate any impacts of this potential exposure.
