The Town of Cochrane has made the decision to cancel all events until July 2, one day after Canada Day.

The Town wants to make it clear that Canada Day celebrations will look differently this year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and helping to flatten the curve.

This decision aligns with restrictions on public gatherings and recommendations for physical distancing put forth by the Province of Alberta.

The Town is encouraging Cochranites to celebrate Canada's birthday virtually instead.

The cancellations from the Town also includes events in Town parks, fields and buildings.

This will impact other events including garage sales, the Cochrane Farmers' Market and neighbourhood gatherings.

Cochrane and Area Events Society (CAES) plans and organizes the Canada Day festivities and is working on an alternate virtual plan for this year's event that will feature contests, activities and surprises.
