The Town of Cochrane has closed its facilities to the public to extend virus protection for staff and the community.

Now closed are the Cochrane Visitor Information Centre, Operations Shop, Protective Services Centre, Seniors on the Bow Centre, Family and Community Support Services, Cochrane RancheHouse, and the Cochrane Eco Centre.

They join the Parent Link Centre that closed on Friday.

Any town payments should be made through online banking, phone banking or at the bank.

During this period, the town will continue to deliver core services.

Work inside facilities continues, with staff accessible by email and phone. Town information and links are also available on cochrane.ca.

The public is asked to follow Alberta Health protocols and to check with specific facilities about their closures or restrictions.

On Mar. 12,  the town enacted its municipal emergency management plan, which allows officials to take proactive measures and to coordinate responses and communications.

Town staff has been asked to limit travel, and scheduled town events have been cancelled. Meetings are being re-evaluated. Provisions are being considered for some staff to work from home.

The Town of Cochrane is following recommendations from Alberta Health Services and is coordinating activity with regional emergency management agencies.

Mayor Jeff Genung is expected to hold a press conference shortly.
