The Town of Cochrane has selected Michael Derricott as their new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Derricott comes to Cochrane with 10 years’ experience as a municipal Chief Administrative Officer, his most recent position being in Edson, Alberta.

He has a Master’s of Business Administration from Royal Roads University and a background in banking. Derricott will step into his new role on January 4, 2021.

In a release from the town, Mayor Jeff Genung stated that he's happy with the process as well as the appointment.

"Mike captures the skills and qualities we looked for in this position," says Genung. "We look forward to welcoming him to Cochrane."

Town Council expressed their appreciation to Interim CAO Drew Hyndman who has filled the role for the past nine months, saying that its been "some of the most challenging in our history."
