Whether or not a grassroots campaign to raise $5,000 to finish the community cenotaph park will be known today at noon.

On Monday, Oct. 21 at noon, organizer Dan Kroffat will be announcing the amount raised to add the finishing touches to the community cenotaph park, adjacent to the Royal Canadian Legion on 5th Ave. If the target is reached, it should sound an end to the massive project started over two years ago to reimagine the park.

He's welcoming all interested people to come to hear the total announced. Companies and community groups involved with fundraising as well as supporters CFL Hall of Famer Jon Cornish and MP Blake Richards will be among those in attendance.

McDonald's Restaurant, Cochrane Toyota and Cochrane Coffee Traders each hosted the huge, custom-built collection box for a day during the two-week campaign. Each will be making a donation to the cause in addition to the donations received from their customers.

Cochrane Home Treasures kicked off the campaign with a $1,000 donation on Oct. 7. On Oct. 18, the Cochrane Activettes also made a $500 donation.

At least one other announcement will be made tomorrow at the cenotaph park.
