The Tom Jackson Charity Gala is back on track and set to be held on Oct. 28 at the Cochrane RancheHouse.

Jackson will become the fourth person to be presented a Community Builder Award by Dan Kroffat at a gala that doubles as a fundraiser for three local causes.

"It will be a dinner and gala and these sell out every year that we've done it because we know our community has an appetite for supporting our leaders and people who make a difference in our community, and of course, Tom Jackson has done that. He's worked with food banks across Canada, and he's worked with the food bank locally, and he's been part of other initiatives here in Cochrane as well."

They'll be several other special guests in attendance, he says.

Kroffat says 100 per cent of the proceeds will be split between the trail linking Cochrane to Calgary, projects of the newly chartered Rocky Mountain Rotary Club, and the local food bank.

Tickets will soon be available, but in the meantime, Kroffat says they are seeking further sponsorships and donations to help make it a huge success.

The first community builder award was presented to Jack Tennant six years ago, followed by Bearcat Murray and Alex Baum. The first was not designed as a fundraiser, but in combination, the last two raised over $100,000 for the Big Hill Haven and the Girl Guide Camp Jubilee which was heavily impacted by the flood of 2013.

More details are expected at a Friday press conference.
