The Rockyview Silvertips junior B lacrosse team will be striving for a win tomorrow to wrap up their exhibition season on a high note.

The Tips lost their only game in an Okotoks tournament last night against the reigning national champ Calgary Shamrocks, 20-5.

That left them tied for second with the host Okotoks Marauders, but the tiebreaking system placed them third.

They opened the tournament with a 13-7 win over the Lethbridge Cudas, then beat the J. Mounties, 8-5.

Tomorrow at 1:30 p.m., they'll face either the Calgary Chill, Lethbridge 'Cudas, or J. Mounties. Tonight's games will decide who finishes fourth in the round-robin.

In the short season, they exchange wins with the 'Cudas and won two of three match-ups against the Mounties. They lost their first game of the season to the Calgary Chill in overtime.

Team manager Darren Deitz expects it to be a close game, no matter who they face.

"If we get another shot at any of those teams, I think it's going to be a good game, and likely going to be a close game, as they've seemed to be this year. We're super excited to finish off strong and hopefully get a win to send the guys home."

Alberta junior 'B' lacrosse teams held a short exhibition season, largely to give them a chance to view their draft picks from the last two years in preparation for a full season in 2022. Deitz says they'll have one more set of draft picks before the next season opens.

In other lacrosse action, the Tier II Rockyview Rage fell 15-9 to the High River Heat on Thursday night. The two teams meet again on July 27.

The Junior and Seniors Ladies Silvertips both play on Saturday.
