Cochrane FCSS in conjunction with Mackay's and Two Pharmacy are encouraging Cochrane neighbourhoods to throw a safe fall block party. Brianne Sachdev, Community Liason with the town says Block Party was a program in the works before COVID 19 happened and has been reorganized to follow health protocols during the pandemic.

The decision to go ahead with the modified program was due partly to the results of The Social Recovery Task Force survey. The response to the survey from many residents was that social isolation was a top concern. As FCSS Manager Kim Krawec explains, "The neighbourhood block parties are an easy way to encourage strong relationships among neighbours." She adds, "Now more than ever, we need to be socially connecting with one another."

So the block party has been modified to follow health protocols with PPE supplies from Two Pharmacy and sweet treats from Mackay's.

The first 20 Cochrane residents who sign up to plan a block party will receive a free planning kit which will include door hanger invitations, free ice cream, and personal protection equipment for up to 50 people. Instructions will also be included to help with the planning of the party.
