Even though a thin blanket of snow is covering the course today, the double digit forecast next week could have you grabbing your clubs for one last golf swing.

They’re taking it day by day, but the Links of GlenEagles golf course is still in full swing. Slade King, Links of GlenEagles, General Manager, says they have some perks which makes it usually the last golf course to close.

“I guess we have a few advantages. Without a lot of trees we don’t have the leaves to deal with. We’re up a bit higher, we sometimes get a little bit of a breeze so we don’t have frost delays some lower lying courses have.”

Despite a rocky economy and the wettest summer, King, says the longer season helped balance out a turbulent year on the course.

“That will be the first time we’ve played golf in March and November in the same season. Overall I would think that most golf courses are down in numbers. But I think the early start and the late finish certainly helped it from being too terrible of a year.”

In anticipation of a weaker year in the 2017 season King says they are planning on making golf more affordable by coming up with some incentive programs. Currently, the most popular “Play Golf Calgary Card” allows you to play at various courses around Calgary for 10 to 15% off.
