Team Alberta is starting out strong at the 2020 Special Olympics National Winter Games.

On their first day of competition in Thunder Bay, Cross Country skiers earned four medals in three of their races.

Cochrane's Brock Jesse and Elouise Stewart will be bringing home some hardware.

Jesse won Silver in the 5K Freestyle race and veteran Stewart won a Gold in her 5K Classic race. Fellow teammate Shane Stewart from Canmore earned a Bronze in his 5K Classic race and Edmonton's Kristen Hudson took the 2nd spot with a Silver in her 5K Classic race.  

The team is fired up for two more days of competition.
