Lorne Bremner with Girls' Hockey is hoping to see many faces out on December 12.

Bremner, coach for Peewee Female Hockey, says after a first year of success they need to hold a round table of how to effectively grow and manage the girls' league.

"Now that we've got a little momentum it's time to make the next step and we really need the the parents of the younger kids to jump on board and get involved just so we can start building this in the right direction."

Bremner adds while they do have great parents who helped get the teams up and running, he is looking at the bigger picture; the long term outlook which may include development of a board.

"That is part of the discussion turning female hockey into it's own subdivision of CMHA (Cochrane Minor Hockey Association); having its own committee is probably the way to go."

Over the next two years, Bremner would love to see two teams at each division, perhaps a competitive team and a house team.

"You have your travel team where the parents are into it, the kids are into it, they want to to get to the next level; and then you have your ones who just want to go out and be part of a team."

Like many other athletic organizations, parents are key when it comes to future growth.

"It is not a case of I will just spend more money, there's certain things that need people to grab the ropes and pull on it. Once you sign your kid up for hockey, or ringette, or I am assuming like gymnastics, or a lot of other sports, once you sign up you can't just be a passenger you're going to be doing stuff. You have to."

So far the divisions are coming along, and Bremner only sees improvement and growth over time.

Girls' Hockey will hold some fun dates in the New Year including 'Come Try Girls' Hockey' in February, 'It's a Girls' Hockey Day' in April, and the Mac's Midget Tournament.
