The Seniors Christmas Wish organizers are inviting Cochranites to start saving their empties for a June 11 bottle drive.

Cheryl DeMaere-Ellis, Southern Representative for the Annual Seniors Wishlist Program, says the funds will be used during the Christmas season to help provide support for seniors.

She says while Cochranites were extremely generous in providing Christmas gifts last year, the funds raised from the bottle drive will help fill the numerous food hampers they provide for seniors living independently.

Empty bottles can be taken to the back parking lot of the Cochrane Bottle Depot, 205 Railway St. E. between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. that day.

They'll also have raffle tickets available for their summer getaway draw that takes place on June 26.

Four prizes are being offered, with a top prize of $1,000 cash.

The rest are summer adventures.

"Everyone's been locked up for two years, so we wanted to offer summer getaways from south to north in Alberta," says DeMaere Ellis.

The second prize is an Alberta Beach Getaway that includes two nights of accommodation, Lac Ste. Anne boat tour, fishing trip, and a dining gift card.

The third is a two-night stay at the Glenmore Inn and Convention Centre in Calgary with dinner, breakfast, zoo tickets, and a $100 gift card.

Fourth is a pass to the Discovery Wildlife Park in Innisfail with a $250 gift card for hotel and gas.

There are 2,500 tickets printed and they cost $5.

You can purchase yours by contacting DeMaere Ellis at 780-982-6922 or visiting CAN's Facebook page by clicking here.

A Cochranite won the second prize of $750 cash from the organization's Christmas raffle.
