While the CFL season remains in question, the Calgary Stampeders continue to sign a new crop of players.
UC Davis' record-setting quarterback Jake Maier has signed a one-year, free-agent contract with the Stamps, it was announced yesterday.
Maier, 23, played 36 games over three seasons with the UC Davis Aggies.
The six-foot, 200-pound from Fullerton, Cali. was the Big Sky Conference’s newcomer of the year in 2017.
In 2018 he was the conference’s offensive player of the year and first-team quarterback.
The communication major from La Habra, California, also claimed HERO Sports All-America accolades in 2018, the team's 2019 Jerry Norris Award as the most valuable and inspirational player of the year, and a total of four Preseason All-America plaudits entering his senior year.
The most notable Aggies alumni in the CFL is Khari Jones, now the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes.
