Rocky View School students can submit their art work for this year's RVS Christmas card.

This year's theme is 'It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year' and students are invited to create any medium of , art work exemplifying the theme.

Lorna Reynolds, RVS, Communications Officerr, says the theme this year describes how everyone feels during the holiday season.

"That's how kids feel about it, not only kids but pretty much everybody. It's a time for family celebrating and that's what we want the pictures that the kids send in for the Christmas cards to depict, is how they celebrate Christmas with family and friends."

The contest is open for RVS students in K-9, and can be created in pretty much any form from pencil crayon, pastel, paint, and/or digitally generated.

Reynolds says they are looking for bright, vibrant pictures to be submitted.

"We are looking for something really colourful and vibrant because it is going to be scanned and put on an electronic version of a card, so it has to be vibrant and fill the page."

Last year RVS received about 300-400 submissions between individuals and classroom projects.

"It's a difficult thing to do," adds Reynolds when it comes to selecting the two winners; one at the grade K-4 level, and the other at 5-9.

Submissions will be accepted via the interoffice blue box system, mail, or you can drop off at the RVS Education Centre, 2651 Chinook Winds Drive, Airdrie until December 9.
